International Patent Application No. PCT/AU2023/050224
The Ranger is an advanced fire detection and suppression system from The Fire Knight Ranger Series engineered specifically for vehicles, industrial machinery, mining equipment, engine bays, and enclosed electrical environments.
Built for demanding conditions, Ranger combines intelligent electronics, industrial-grade engineering, and rapid automatic suppression technology designed to assist in suppressing fires before they escalate in environments where traditional fire protection cannot be installed.
With marine-grade stainless steel construction, battery backup capability, audible alarms, and emergency lighting, Ranger is designed to continue operating during power interruptions and harsh operating environments found across Indian mining, infrastructure, and industrial sectors.
The Ranger uses five complementary detection technologies to provide rapid identification of developing fire conditions while actively reducing false alarms that can disrupt operations.
This multi-technology approach is particularly valuable in demanding industrial environments such as mining equipment, engine bays, and heavy machinery. Heat, vibration, dust, and extreme temperatures can challenge traditional single-sensor systems, increasing the risk of nuisance alarms.
By combining advanced fire detection, automatic suppression, and rugged industrial-grade construction, The Ranger delivers dependable protection in environments where reliability, equipment uptime, and personnel safety are critical.
Precision resistance temperature detector provides continuous, accurate temperature measurement of critical components — detecting abnormal heat rise before it reaches ignition threshold.
Precision thermal sensing
Specialist detection cable is routed through engine bays, along machinery surfaces, or within enclosed spaces — detecting heat along the entire cable length rather than at a single point. Ideal for large machinery and vehicle engine compartments.
Zone-wide coverage
The Environmental Profile Selector (Standard / High Temp) allows the system to be calibrated for the specific operating environment — preventing false activations in naturally high-heat areas such as engine bays and foundries.
Adapts to environment
Continuous monitoring of cylinder pressure ensures the suppression system is always ready to discharge. Low pressure alerts notify operators before system integrity is compromised — with a dedicated Low Pressure LED on the control panel.
System integrity check
The protected manual activation button allows operators to initiate suppression directly when they observe a fire condition — providing human override capability alongside the automatic response system.
Operator override
PT100 sensors, LHD cable, and pressure monitoring run continuously — scanning for abnormal heat signatures, temperature rise, and system status changes in real time.
Multi-sensor confirmation triggers a fire condition. Environmental profiling ensures the activation threshold is appropriate for the specific operating environment — minimising false alarms.
Audible alarm sounds immediately. Emergency lighting activates. System status LEDs signal Triggered status on the control panel. Operators are alerted before suppression deploys.
Fire suppression agent discharges automatically through the engineered nozzle system directly at the fire zone — suppressing the fire before it can escalate to catastrophic machinery or vehicle loss.
The Ranger is purpose-built for the environments where Indian industry faces the highest fire risk and where no effective automatic protection previously existed.
Haul trucks, shovels, drilling rigs, loaders, and dozers operating in coal, iron ore, bauxite, and limestone mines across Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, MP, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.Engine bay · Hydraulic systems · Electrical enclosures
India has 5M+ commercial trucks. Engine bay fires from diesel leaks, turbocharger heat (500–600°C), and hydraulic spray cause total vehicle losses that could be prevented with early suppression.Engine bay · Cab area · Fuel system
Mandatory fire suppression for buses over 22 passengers under Indian Motor Vehicles regulations. Ranger provides the automatic engine bay protection required for compliance.Rear engine · Wheel arch · Electrical systems
Hydraulic presses, CNC machines, compressors, and production equipment where hydraulic oil, coolant leaks, and electrical faults create serious fire risk in unmonitored machinery compartments.Hydraulic systems · Electrical enclosures · Control panels
600,000+ diesel generators in industrial use across India. Generator enclosures are high-risk environments where fuel, heat, and electrical faults combine. Ranger provides automatic protection without requiring manual presence.Generator room · Fuel system · Control enclosure
Excavators, cranes, concrete pumps, and piling rigs used across India infrastructure projects — all with high fire risk from hydraulic systems, diesel fuel, and electrical faults in remote construction sites.Engine compartment · Hydraulic lines · Cab area
Ranger operates automatically and continuously. it does not require a person to be present. A standard extinguisher requires a person to identify the fire, retrieve the extinguisher, and manually operate it. In mining equipment, engine bays, and enclosed machinery, a fire can escalate to total loss in seconds, faster than any manual response. Ranger detects and responds automatically.
Yes, Ranger includes a battery backup system designed to maintain continuous operation during power interruptions. This capability is critical because electrical faults are a common cause of vehicle and machinery fires. The backup power supply ensures the fire detection and suppression system remains fully operational when the primary electrical system is compromised, providing reliable protection when it is needed most.
LHD cable is a specialist detection cable that is routed through the protected area such as along an engine bay or machinery compartment. Unlike a point sensor, LHD detects heat along the entire length of the cable, providing coverage across a wide area. This is critical for large machinery where a single-point sensor would miss fire events in remote corners of the protected zone.
